Noiphelyn: Sweet Two Months Postmortem

The start

I've started the project being on a notion that I would be the sole contributor. While developing Nyan Hunt visual novel, I had a thought that I would complete a new one on the side since there is no new game for the whole year for 2020. And thus, Noiphelyn is created. Before I knew what I were doing, I turned Nyan Hunt into a side project and Noiphelyn as the main dish unintentionally. This game, version 1.0.STVNJ2020E and 1.5.0 combined, was created within two months. The first month was for the Spooktober 2nd Annual Visual Novel Jam and the second month is for Devtober 2020.

Noiphelyn and the Maidens' Lab Garden

Maidens' Lab Garden is a collection of other visual novels and possibly different types of games into the mix in the future. This includes Hiking Kemonomimi, Mischievous Lamb, and Bunbun Tower with a plan for Labryia Glass and Porcelain Spectral adding in. They are one story from different perspectives in a same world. Noiphelyn will of course, be part of the unfortunate test subject (again, unintentionally.) But having my mind set on one thing, I may have expanded the list nonchalantly.

What went right

Which I thought was to believe what went wrong. I was struggling to design something nice: the design, writing, music, and the perspective. I ended up changing the concept:

Which ended up still looking good. The design in every aspect seems to be working accordingly, giving enough scare from the monsters in particular and the music, and sometimes silence added at the right moment.
I thought it wasn't good, but others point of view and the streamers said the opposite. You all boost my confidence which otherwise lacks thereof.

What went wrong

Which I thought to believe what went right.
As I am typing this postmortem, I realize something important missing: her hand bracelet. I forgot about it in the CG and in the choice screens! I drew it on her sprite but bare hand on everywhere else. I'll have to get it done the next update, hopefully, before the sales ended.
Anyway, time constraints. I've been rushing into things, forgetting about the details as real-life were twisting my arm backwards and flop me over from one end to the other. Next is the soundtracks. I had modified the music sheets back and forth, wasting more time than I should and ended up thinking the piano only version sounds better. I even wasted too much time finding sound effects knowing that I could have reused them from other projects and it is still sounded good.
Last but not least, not splitting up the script when I had the chance. I made myself difficult with a half-broken mouse: terrible response from the scroll-wheel, and mouse drag and clicks problem over 2126 lines of coding. Not only that, I sucked at marketing and had a poor experience in writing.

Conclusion

I believe there is room for improvement. I have no regret, and I am happy with what I accomplished but not fully satisfied. Not because of anything but because I feel like that first concept sprite is going to be a waste. For that reason, I might come back to this project again after I have done with Nyan Hunt.
